Web View from Hungry Hill I’ve been looking over the millions of organic websites these last months and I’ve come up with a few that you might like to scrutinize. But first, two sites that you need not look at; www.gardening.com is the Nevada Casino site – so, unless you want to lose your Kinsale smock....... www.vshiva.org. Dr Vandana Shiva, an indefatigable foe of Monsanto and their ilk, is one of my few heroes – but this address opens a porn site! Somebody’s foul idea of a joke! Dr Shiva’s, Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology in New Delhi, can be contacted at; www.vshiva.net. www.organicgardening.com. I like this site with its fascinating products and email give-aways – currently on offer, an electronic copy of Good Bug, Bad Bug! And because its American and the transport of even a teeny item would cost as much as my old Passat is worth it can’t upset my frugality index. But I would like to have a closer look at the book, Lasagne Gardening (possibly a follow-up to, Spaghetti Trees, publ. 1/4/2001?). Another book, Storey’s Basic Country Skills, only $34.95 +p&p and the Passat, has me wondering whether our editor has been flogging his ould country cop to the gullible Yanks. If you’re into nuts like me you might like to use this UK, organic broker’s site; www.organictrade.co.uk . A bag, albeit a 25kg one, of best Turkish hazelnuts, would cost you only £3.10 per kilo – compared to £15.00 per kilo retail! www.purefood.org (not to be confused with boring, just-food.com with whose editor I’ve parried recently on my website) is always worth a visit. www.all-organic-food.com is a refreshingly pro bono publico site with great archives of useful health information. So, apart from the staggering vista across Bantry Bay to the Sheep’s Head Peninsula, that’s the view from Hungry Hill for now. Jim O’Connor, email; info@planorganic.com. Website; www.planorganic.com.
