July
2004 - House below was resold this month for a figure just north of
€800,000.
Sold
at auction on 22nd October 2003 The opening bid
on the property was €550,000. Two bidders brought the price to
€760,000 fairly quickly. At that stage the auctioneer opened a sealed
envelope which contained the reserve price. He declared that the
property had reached the reserve price and "was on the
market". There were no further bids and the property was sold at
the last bid price to a solicitor for " a client in
trust". Imposing
Regency style, country estate in Tipperary to be sold by auction on 22nd
October (the property belongs to my
good friend Tony O'Malley's* mother, who, sadly, has been invalided by a
stroke these last few years.
Suircastle House near Golden, Tipperary, will be auctioned by Hamilton
Osborne and King at their offices in Dublin. The guide price is a very
reasonable €625,000.
The beautifully sited house - and extensive, mostly stone-built,
out-houses is surrounded by 48 acres of land - approximately 8 of
which is mature woodland, the balance being free-draining, typically Golden
Vale, fertile clay on limestone. Agricultural land in this area can make
€10,000 plus.

A property, now slightly famous, following coverage - with colour photos -
in the Sunday Times and Irish Examiner, is for sale in
Co. Clare. This is an inspiring property for someone wanting to step into a
quality, alternative life-style. The eco-friendly round-house is built in
brick and timber and has a wonderfully embracing conservatory.
See it -
words are not enough!
The house and surrounding five acres of organic
gardens are secluded in the hills of south Co. Clare, about half way
between Ennis and Miltown Malbay.
Price; €320,000 (Feb. 2004)
There is a separate
cottage on an acre included in this price. If sold separately - a price
would be negotiated.
I
enthusiastically recommend this property which I would unhesitatingly buy
myself - if I had the money.
It's not the day job, but I like the Wecks, and I will be glad to
act as a go-between.
